Description:
The Learning Centers are owned by Grand Forks Homes and managed by the GF Housing authority. The Centers offer a variety of computer classes, nutritional and educational classes, open computer hours offered at several times of the day throughout the week, job skill/search enhancement classes, a job training program, orientations to the Learning Centers, connections with other agencies in the community, youth programming, and many other opportunities.
The Learning Centers are committed to providing a non-threatening technology based educational experience for the residents at LaGrave Place, Continental Homes and other in the community. The LIDC was incorporated February 6, 1984 as a non-profit corporation. The Board of Directors consists of seven members. Two of the seven directors are appointed by the Linton City Council. The remaining five directors are elected by the LIDC members for three year terms on a rotation basis. The primary purposes for which the corporation was organized are: 1) To give positive direction to the development of commerce in the City of Linton. 2) To complement the activities of the City of Linton especially those aspects related to increasing trade and services throughout the city and to maintaining and strengthening the role of the central business district as the prime cultural, economic and governmental center of the region. 3) To establish and maintain effective relationships with the State of North Dakota, all branches of city and county government, and other organizations in the community related to its business climate and economic future. 4) To study problems such as business location, land use, appearance, transportation, parking, housing, community facilities, historic preservation, assessment, taxation, and finance, and to prepare recommendations for their solution. 5) To promote and assist existing businesses to expand and new businesses to locate in Linton, and to provide special assistance to small businesses. 6) To acquire, improve, develop, manage, and dispose of real and personal property. 7) To enter into and carry out contracts for any lawful purpose pursuant to purposes of this organization. 8) To borrow, raise and invest monies for the purposes of this organization. 9) To carry out those activities which will enhance the image and reputation of Linton as a place to live and invest. Some additional things the LIDC is committed to are: 1) Assisting clients in developing business ideas and business plans. 2) Assisting clients in obtaining financing from local, state and federal agencies. 3) To promote and assist businesses to locate in the County of Emmons and the State of North Dakota.

Description:
The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa's Emergency Youth Shelter is a child care facility which provides short-term residential care and services for children 8-18 years of age who are homeless, who are victims of abuse or abandonment by substance abusing parents or adults, who are themselves involved in substance abuse to the the extent that special care is necessary or who are awaiting specific court action by courts or other jurisdiction relative to their future placement.
While in residence, youth are offered a supportive environment which allows them to maintain contact with the community and their families, if appropriate. In addition to food, housing and adult supervision, youth residents are offered individual, gorup and family counseling opportunities; recreational and education opportunities; provision for emergency needs; referral and access to tribal and other social service programs.
