Caring for a person with a disability or special needs is a big responsibility for a family, but families don't have to care for their family member alone. Easter Seals Goodwill can help. This organization offers a wide range of programs and services with certified and trained support staff who can provide both personal care and medical services for people with disabilities or other special needs who are living at home and who, with some help, can remain there. Easter Seals Goodwill is a statewide organization and also has 3 Goodwill Retail Stores - one in Minot, one in Jamestown, and one in Grand Forks.

Eating Disorders Institute

EDI offers a full range of clinical services for adults and adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulemia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and related forms of disorder eating. Patients may receive treatment on an outpatient basis, or if their needs are greater, partial hospitalization or full in-patient treatment is available.

Elder Care

Description:
Elder Care provides a variety of services to individuals over 60 years of age to enable them to remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible. The programs are funded in part by ND Department of Human Services - Aging Services Division, ND Department of Transportation, United Way, Senior Mill Levy, and a portion of the Dickinson City Sales Tax. Local donations also help keep the programs in place. Senior meals are provided to anyone over 60 years of age living in Region 8. There are 25 meal sites throughout southwest North Dakota to meet the demand. Call 456-1818 for more information. Outreach services are in place throughout the region to assist individuals who just need a few services initiated to allow them to remain independent. The outreach staff is available to visit with the client, the client's family or other concerned persons. Please call 456-1818 for the initial contact person in your area. Chore services are available to people in Stark County who are over 60. This program provides basic homeowner assistance with lawn moving, snow shoveling, and minor home repairs. Please call 456-1818 for more information regarding the fee for service and necessary arrangements. Special needs transportation is available to individuals who are over 60 years of age, or who are physically or mentally disabled. Five buses and one mini-van are available Monday thorugh Friday to transport passengers to and from medical appointments, shopping, employment, etc. The one-way fare of $2.50 makes it economical to travel throughout the city. A Blue Card can be secured by eligible passengers, which enables them to use the local cab company to travel on Saturday or Sunday for the same rate of $2.50 per one-way trip. Transportation to and from Bismarck during the week can be arranged as well. Please call our transportation line at 456-6564 to make arrangements.

Entrepreneurship Single Parents and Minorities (ESPM) offers a workshop-style class that gives participants the knowledge and encouragement they need to get started in business. Topics range from marketing to financing, and are taught by local business volunteers. Participants can either come to a few classes on certain topics, or they can attend the full 12-class session and gain enough knowledge to: Start and run their own business. Improve an existing business. Become a more valuable employee. A minimal fee is applied; scholarships may be available.
